General Questions

Manually creating 301 redirects is time-consuming, error-prone, and tedious. SEM Samurai was built to speed up the process, improve redirect accuracy, and free up time for higher-value SEO and strategic work.

SEM Samurai uses a series of matching algorithms to compare every URL in your old_urls.csv file with URLs in your new_urls.csv file. The result is a mapping file that includes high-confidence matches, low-confidence matches and URLs with no match. All URLs are clearly labelled for review.

SEM Samurai is designed to slot neatly into existing technical SEO and site migration workflows. You’re likely already crawling the old site to prioritise URLs and crawling the new site for pre-launch audits. Those crawl outputs are simply uploaded to SEM Samurai for automated URL mapping.

You provide them. SEM Samurai requires two files for mapping: old_urls.csv and new_urls.csv.

SEM Samurai is highly accurate when URL paths and supporting meta data remain similar between the old and new sites. If a URL has changed significantly or no close match exists, the tool flags those URLs for human review rather than forcing an incorrect match.

Unmatched URLs require manual review. SEM Samurai does not automatically map URLs to parent directories or the index page. If important URLs from the old_urls.csv file are not matched, this may indicate content gaps on the new site that need to be addressed.

SEM Samurai attempts to map all URLs included in your old_urls.csv file. If this file contains 404 pages or legacy URLs, the tool will still attempt to find a suitable match for them.

SEM Samurai uses a credits-based pricing model. Credit packs are available for purchase within the app. Gredit pack prices start start at AUD $29 (ex. GST) for 500 credits.

In your SEM Samurai account you can claim 100 free credits every month, allowing you to map up to 100 URLs per month at no cost. This is ideal for testing the tool and small site migrations. There is no subscription, so a traditional free trial isn’t required.

Credits & Billing

Credits are used each time a URL is matched.

For a default match (URL, <title>, <h1>) 1 credit is used.

Advanced match options require additional credits per URL.

Example
Default Match = 1 credit per row (URL)
– Required: URL
– Recommended: <title>, <h1>

Optional:
+ 1 credit for any of:
<meta description>
<h2>
<h3>
(1 to 3 additional columns)

Optional:
+ 1 credit for up to 500 words of body content.

Credit usage is calculated based on the larger of the two lists.
If you have 1000 “Old URLs” and 2000 “New URLs”, the credits will be calculated based on the 2000 “New URLs” list, the larger of the two.

No. Your Pay-As-You-Go Credits do not expire.

Free Credits do not expire. You can also claim an additional 50 Free Credits each month!

Job Settings

This score comes from cosine similarity between multi-view embeddings (Path + Meta).

1.0 = identical meaning
0.0 = completely unrelated

The closer to 1, the stronger the match.

Higher scores come from shared slugs, strong title/H1 overlap, similar product attributes, or consistent category structures.

Multi-view weighting controls how much URL structure vs page meaning influences the matching algorithms.
