This Cookie Policy explains how SEM Samurai uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our marketing site or use the SEM Samurai URL Mapping Platform (together, the Services). It forms part of, and should be read together with, the SEM Samurai Privacy Policy and URL Mapping Agreement.
By using the Services, you consent to our use of cookies in accordance with this Cookie Policy.
1. What are cookies?
- Cookies are small text files that are downloaded to your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to site owners.
- Similar technologies (such as pixels, local storage and tags) may also be used for the same purposes and are treated as “cookies” in this Policy.
2. Who sets cookies when you use SEM Samurai?
- Cookies may be set by:
- First-party cookies – cookies placed directly by SEM Samurai when you visit our marketing site or use the Platform; and
- Third-party cookies – cookies placed by third parties, such as analytics providers, payment processors (e.g. Stripe) and embedded content providers.
- Third parties may use cookies in connection with our Services for their own purposes (for example, to provide analytics or process payments). Their use of cookies is subject to their own privacy and cookie policies.
3. Types of cookies we use and why
We may use the following categories of cookies:
3.1. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the operation of the Services and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as:
- Logging in or creating an account
- Managing sessions and security
- Loading and processing CSV files within the Platform
- Initiating a purchase of URL Mapping Credits and redirecting you to payment providers such as Stripe.
Without these cookies, the Services may not function properly.
3.2. Functionality cookies
These cookies enable the Services to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as:
- Remembering your preferences (for example, columns, language or time zone)
- Remembering that you are logged in between sessions
- Supporting “beta” or test features for selected users.
If you disable these cookies, some or all of these features may not work correctly.
3.3. Analytics and performance cookies
These cookies help us understand how users interact with the Services so we can:
- Measure traffic and usage patterns
- Diagnose performance issues or errors
- Prioritise improvements and new features
- Evaluate how well features such as URL matching, dashboards and workflows are being used.
Data collected through analytics cookies is typically aggregated and does not directly identify individuals.
3.4. Advertising / marketing cookies
On our marketing site, we may use advertising or marketing cookies to:
- Measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns
- Show ads or content that may be more relevant to you based on your interactions with our site.
If we implement advertising cookies, we will configure our cookie banner and consent tools so you can accept or reject them in accordance with applicable law.
4. Cookies used by third-party services
- Our Services integrate with third-party providers, which may set their own cookies when you use the Services. Examples include:
- Payment processing – Stripe may set cookies to enable secure payment processing and fraud prevention when you purchase URL Mapping Credits.
- Analytics and monitoring – third-party analytics or error monitoring tools may use cookies to provide us with anonymised usage statistics and error reports.
- We do not control the cookies set by these third parties. Where required by law, we will provide links to their privacy and cookie policies within our cookie banner or on our website.
5. Managing cookies and your choices
5.1. Browser settings
Most browsers allow you to:
- View which cookies are stored on your device.
- Delete cookies
- Block some or all cookies from being set.
However, if you block or delete strictly necessary or functionality cookies, parts of the Services may not work correctly or may not work at all.
5.2. In-product and on-site controls
Where required by law (for example, in certain jurisdictions), we will provide a cookie banner and/or preference centre on our marketing site that allows you to:
- Accept or reject non-essential cookies (such as analytics or advertising cookies); and
- Change your cookie preferences at any time.
5.3. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting. There is currently no industry standard governing how websites should respond to DNT signals. At present, we do not respond to DNT signals, but we will review this position as standards evolve.
6. Relationship with the Privacy Policy and URL Mapping Agreement
- Information collected through cookies and similar technologies may, in some circumstances, constitute personal information. Our use of that information is also governed by the SEM Samurai Privacy Policy.
- The SEM Samurai Cookie Policy forms part of, and is incorporated into, the URL Mapping Agreement and the Privacy Policy.
- Capitalised terms in this Cookie Policy, unless otherwise defined in this Cookie Policy, have the same meanings as in the URL Mapping Agreement.
7. Changes to this Cookie Policy
- We may update or replace this Cookie Policy from time to time (for example, if we add new services or change the cookies we use). The most current version will be published on the SEM Samurai website or within the Platform.
- If the changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, by email, banner or in-app notice).
- Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of any updated Cookie Policy will constitute your acceptance of the changes.
